About Mary Beth Dowlin

Mary Beth studied Theatre, Art and Interior Design at The University of Mississippi. She worked as an interior designer in Columbus and at the A.B. Closson Jr. Co. in Cincinnati. Her many projects included as an A.S.I.D. Showhouse, model rooms, and design liaison on the refurbishment of the Netherland Hotel, a noted Art Deco Cincinnati landmark. She left design behind with the birth of her twins to focus on family. Summertime with the family on Chappaquiddick, Martha’s Vineyard rekindled her love for painting. “The magical light and textures of the Vineyard are an inspiration, and I try to bring that to all my work.” She has studied with several noted Cincinnati artists, including Carl Zimmerman and Boston’s Tom Dunlay and Kevin Shea. She regularly participates in regional show in the trial-state and on Martha’s Vineyard. two of her designs for The Big Pig Gig public works art project were selected and appeared at City Hall (Hamri Matisse), and Sow-Vatore Pastavino at Sawyer Point. Mary Beth is a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the Brush and Palette Painters, The Ohio Plein Air Society, the South West Ohio Plein Air Painters and the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association. She is a Signature Member and served as President of the Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati 2016-2018, ushering in their 125th year. Her work can be seen at Bello Design Group, O’Bryonville in Cincinnati and the Old Sculpin Gallery in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard.
