About Kurt Peterson

Captain Kurt Peterson has had a lifelong appreciation for wooden boats, sailing, and maritime history. His artistic inspiration is sourced in large part from his own sailing experiences. Kurt has sailed the east coast from Maine to Key West and the Caribbean from the Bahamas to Grenada. His largest and most important work of art is his beloved catboat “Tigress,” a living piece of Americana that sails daily around Edgartown Harbor. Kurt received his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College in 2009, where he studied painting and music performance. His artistic mission is to bring color and vibrance to history, celebrating a time when sailing ships were the engine of American commerce and enhanced the cultural pride of every seaside town.
